Choosing between OEM and ODM manufacturing is a key decision when developing a fashion or denim brand. It impacts product design, speed to market, and the level of control you have over production.
In this guide, we explain the difference between OEM vs ODM, how each works in denim manufacturing, and when to choose one over the other. Whether you’re starting a new brand or scaling an existing one, this will help you make better sourcing decisions and work more effectively with your garment manufacturer.

How OEM denim manufacturing works
Starting from your tech pack, we develop patterns, create samples for approval, and source the required fabrics and trims. Once the design, fit, and wash are confirmed, we proceed to bulk production, including cutting, sewing, washing, finishing, and final quality control. This ensures your denim products are produced accurately, consistently, and ready for market.
1. Product development
Our product development team translates your designs into production-ready specifications, ensuring accuracy from sampling through bulk manufacturing.
- Technical pattern making and digital grading
- Tech pack analysis and construction optimisation
- Sample development (proto, fit, and pre-production)
2. Fabric & trim sourcing
Our sourcing team works with more than 20 established partners across China to secure the right materials and components for each project.
- Denim fabric sourcing (rigid, stretch, selvedge, performance blends)
- Access to certified and sustainable material options
- Branded trims and component sourcing (e.g. YKK)
3. Denim washes & finishes
The denim wash development process is designed to achieve the right look, hand feel, and character for each style. From subtle surface variation to more expressive finishing, we work closely with brands to develop wash effects that align with their design direction while maintaining consistency from sampling through bulk production.
- Ordinary, enzyme, stone, acid and vintage wash
- Vintage, distressed, and engineered worn effects
- Laser finishing, whiskering, and manual abrasion techniques
4. Embroidery & embellishments
Our embroidery and embellishment capabilities are tailored to enhance both design and brand identity. We offer a range of techniques including logo embroidery, custom trims, labels, and branded hardware detailing.
- Multi-head embroidery (flat, chain stitch, and raised finishes)
- Appliqué, patches, and branded badge development
- Screen print, discharge, and heat transfer applications
5. Packing & quality control
We implement strict quality control processes throughout production, including inline and final inspections to ensure consistency and compliance with your standards. We also offer custom packaging solutions, including labels, hangtags, and retail-ready packing, prepared according to your requirements.
- Wash, colour, and construction consistency checks
- Custom packaging, labelling, and retail-ready packing
- Third-party inspection and compliance support
